Home Sweet Home!

It's been a little over two weeks since we returned from China and "life with Shu Shu and Jie Jie" is finally getting back to "normal". The girls are in more of a routine now where they go to bed around the same time everynight . . . . sleep through the night! . . . . and wake up around the same time each morning. Jie Jie is doing remarkably well for being with us such a short time. She walks around the house constantly talking in Chinese and singing little songs. One of these days I will learn to add a video to this blog and share it with you! She will try to repeat anything I ask her too and most of the time repeats the word perfectly which is truly amazing to us. As I mentioned on my web-site we are having a little trouble with the "sibling rivalry" stuff but each day brings a promise of more "sisterly love". Although Shu did tell Ken the other night "It's time to take Jie Jie back to China!" . . . . . overall she really loves her sister and I am certain, as time goes by a really close friendship will develop.

I attempted to take Jie to have her pictures taken the other day and she just cried for the photographer so when I got home I tried to take my own photo shoot of her . . . . here's what I was able to capture!

I'm so cute!

Giving me a kiss!

Giving me a kiss . . . .with an attitude!

O.K. Mom . . . I'm done with this photo shoot!

Here are some pictures of Jie Jie's favorite things to do!

1. Eat ice cream!

2. Wear sunglasses!

3. Swing!

A few days ago Tyson (our next door neighbor) came over to visit the girls with his new dog "Lucky". I asked him why they named him "Lucky" and he said "Because he's Lucky we brought him home!" Too cute!

Memorial Day Weekend

Every Memorial Day weekend our adoption agency holds it's annual picnic at the Cleveland Zoo. Even though we had only been home 10 days! . . . . . since Jie was doing so good we decided we would attend and make our first "public appearance" with her. The weather was beautiful and we were able to see many friends that have also adopted through our agency. Jie Jie was a little overwhelmed by the crowds at first but had a great time seeing all the animals, eating "junk food" and playing with Shu Shu!

Suckers for breakfast!

Everyone looking on the first try! . . . . that made my day!

We need a hotdog Dad!

It was nice to see Zhou again!

After we left the zoo we went home and gave the girls naps then "re-grouped" for our Wuhan-Hubei adoption reunion later that afternoon. Five of the families that we went to China with in 2006 were able to make it this year.

Cindy & MacKenzie (they came late so weren't in the group picture)

The whole Sprout family! . . . . the Sprout's are from Minnesota and after adopting MacKenzie from China, adopted 3 more children from Guatamala! (L to R: Sindy, Antonio & Marisol) It was so nice to see them again and learn they are planning to go back to China for a son!

Good-bye Guangzhou, China!
Ken and I have literally been up all night packing and getting ready for our long trip home! We figured we would have plenty of time to rest during our 24 hour plane ride! We are happy to be leaving China but of course it is a bittersweet good-bye knowing we are taking our daughter from everything she has known for the last two years of her life. We pray for her today, that she will adjust to her new life without to much sadness or distress. We also pray for the mother and the country that she leaves behind today as she begins her new life with her forever family! May God Bless China and the mothers that have sacrificed their most incredible possessions!

Happy Mother's Day

I just updated our web-site with the details of how we spent my Mother's Day and wanted to share some more pictures with you. Despite the events of the day . . . . we are still loving the sites and culture of China!
