Dedication Sunday
"I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of Him. So now I give her to the Lord. For her whole life she will be dedicated to the Lord.."

Back to Work for Mom!

This past Monday I went back to work after a sometimes crazy . . . . . and sometimes exhausting . . . . but overall "wonderful" leave of absence from my job as an R.N. Thanks to my co-workers my first week back went smoothly but most importantly Jie's first week at daycare went great. After a few farewell tears for Daddy she adapted very well to "daycare" life. She played, ate, and slept like a well adjusted little two year old! If there is such a thing! When I picked her up after the first full day I couldn't wait to see her and Shu Shu both. I went to Jie's room first and she ran over to me all smiles like she had a great day! Ken and I were so relieved that she did so well. It also helped with the guilt feelings of having to put her in daycare only three months since our adoption.

As the summer months pass by so quickly I find it hard to believe it has only been 3 months since Jie Jie was placed in our arms. (May 4th 2009 - "Gotcha Day"! for Jie Jie) It seems like she has been our daughter forever. Her adjustment to life in our family has been remarkable and if she wasn't walking around speaking Chinese all the time you would think that she has been with us since birth! She is repeating English words more every day (with a Chinese accent I have to add) but still speaks sentences in Chinese to us. We wish we had an interpreter living with us at times so we would know what she is telling us. She repeats everything that her "big sister" says . . . . some good . . . . and some not so good! Shu Shu and Jie have finally started to learn to "play together" (instead of fighting each other for toys) and the house has thankfully been much more peaceful. We continue to feel so blessed to have Jie Jie in our family and look forward to learning more about her every day. Here are some pictures from some fun things we have been doing this summer.

In July our good friends Holli, Kyia and Lily got to finally meet Jie Jie! I put in a prior post that Kyia and Shu are both from Wuhan, Hubei and Lily and Jie are both from Nanning, Guangxi! We are both wondering where our third daughters will be from! . . . . . ??

Jie Jie fell in love with Kyia as soon as they met!
We turned a lot of heads in the Mall with these four beauties!!
July also brought a reunion with our friends from California that traveled to China with us in July 2006 for their daughter Jaydn. The girls had a great time getting to know each other again.

In June we got to see our friends and "travel buddies" Dan & Julie Bowers and their daughter Kim Kim. Jie and Kim are only two months apart so we hope they will grow up to be great friends. We had a great evening talking about our trip to China and watching the girls play together.

Fun in the bouncy house!
